A heat wave has hit the capital this week and London Marathon runners are set to feel the burn. Temperatures have soared towards the 30 degree mark causing chaos on the tubes and train lines coming into London. And it won’t make things easy when the 40,000 competitors hit the streets to battle through 26 miles of gruelling running.

The London Marathon is no stranger to celebrities competing over its iconic 26.2 miles. Friend and family of London Marathon runners can track their loved ones during the race start Watch it online.

And 2018 is no different. From Katie Price to Stephen Mangan a typical mix of celebrities from all different fields of work will be competing in the race.

Chris Newton became the quickest celebrity ever in 2014 when the world champion cyclist swapped out the bike for his own legs setting an impressive time of 2:45:10.

The year after he beat his own record and set a time of 2:39:27 which all celebrities will be looking to beat in years to come.

The quickest woman celebrity was not far behind with former Ironman triathlon world champion Chrissie Wellington holding the record at 2:49:01.

Over the years celebrities have become an increasingly important part of the charity fund-raising element of the race and this year will be no different.

Former rower Sir Steve Redgrave held the record for most money raised in a single London Marathon at £1.7 million.

This was later beaten by Steve Chalke who raised £2,330,159.38 for Oasis Uk in 2011.
